Our Kinda Town.....

Yes, Chicago is definitely our kinda town, but I'll spare you the obvious music link here! After an excellent flight we landed at 1:15pm and despite seeing plenty of snow over Canada and the Great Lakes, we arrived to clear sunny weather. Running the gauntlet of US Immigration was surprisingly pleasant (and quick!) and after a short taxi ride (with a driver who uttered not a single word!) we arrived at the airport hotel....great for plane spotting! Actually, the hotel is really nice!! I guess that's all for now....we're here and raring to pick up the car tomorrow, when we set sail in an easterly direction towards Washington DC, a distance of around 650 miles! (If you're wondering....'yes' its pretty exciting, and oh yes, thanks to all of you who are taking time out to read the blog and for your supportive comments!) The story continues!!

The 'starting flag' is poised for "off", so I figured it was time to check that my blog is in a state of readiness and to share a couple of thoughts with whom ever might get to read this! First, I hope to make my account brief and hopefully interesting. With this in mind, I intend to post 'music links' along the way......from a play list relevant to the places that we visit. I've already posted a link to "Holiday Road" (be warned, this tune seriously 'sticks in your mind!)and below is a link to the Boss'"Further on Up the Road", where I guess we'll meet-up again. I have to thank YouTube and its contributors for providing the links and I hope that some readers find the tracks easy listening.....I should add that whilst I have articulated my intention to do something that sounds inherently simple, the combination of 'new technology' and 'pushing the envelope of my technical ability' could turn this mission into something akin to my being trapped in Dante's vision of the Fifth Circle of Hell!!
