Getting acquainted with Savannah!

With the hotel treadmill 'out of action', today began with an early riverside walk ..... 6:30am and it was already hot and humid! However, when  we hit the streets after breakfast a slight breeze took  some of the sting from the oppressive heat. With the aid of a free tourist map we investigated the maze of streets that comprises Savannah's historic district, discovering lots of beautiful shady squares and a plethora of fabulous period houses as we wandered its tree-lined streets.

The temperature rose steadily as we traced our way to Forsyth Park, home to a magnificent fountain centrepiece.

We hadn't appreciated just how many film locations this region boasts ... here we encountered the site where Forest Gump recounted his heart-rendering tale, whilst awaiting his bus (adjacent to the classic Lucas Movie Theatre).

Occasional drink-stops were mandatory along the way, including a riverside bar -stop at which several draught IPAs were on offer. I tried a couple of the most hoppy ...... The Hopsicutioner was most excellent!! Savannah is definitely recommended to anyone visiting the area. Today;s musical reminder is by Little Eva's backing group 'The Cookies' and its ' The Chain'!
