Another year, another road trip, this time a little shorter than usual owing to our having had to leave our beautiful granddaughter, Ellie, behind! But we'll see her again soon and maybe we can create some travel memories in the meantime, to inspire her to travel when she's older. Who knows?! Anyway, this trip began at Newark Airport. After a quick cab trip with a flip-flop wearing driver who packed a beer in the cab's drinks holder, we checked-in the Westin Jersey City. It has to be said that Newport, Jersey City, is the smart place to saty when visiting New York. Its well situated with great transport links and is quieter than Manhatten, and you can now walk along the waterside walkway to Hobekem.
We decided to do the latter, after discovering some of the recently opened shops in Newport (including a fabulous convenience market!). Hobokem is good place to visit, with its old-time feel and local history ...... home of Frank Sinatra and the 'Carlos', the TV Cake Man!.
We made our way back to Newport in thw warm drizzly weather and headed sytraight to its impressive mall and the Cheesecake Factory, for dinner!
