Most of the drive involves light traffic, on a road, that is straight and cuts through mostly uninhabited desert. Once in a while, however, you catch site of a huge casino in the middle of nowhere with signs showing that Tom Jones, Van Morrison etc. are to appear there, soon! We stopped off at a Rest Centre for a picnic lunch, surrounded by signs warning of poisonous snakes and insects. We survived! As as one reaches the outskirts of Phoenix, the desert suddenly turns green and the number of traffic lanes spirals, exponentially. Given the traffic volume and the number of turn-off instructions, delivered in quick, succession, I missed a turn and we exited I10, too soon. But, fortunately the recalculated route directed us to our destination along more sensible roads and in the same time! Whilst in Scottsdale, we are staying at one of my favourite places, the Holiday Inn Express, Scottsdale Old Town. I've said it before .... its a hotel that gets everything right first time.
As we switched the car radio to 60's music, today, I thought I'd use a piece from that era: Fortunate Son, by Credence Clearwater Revival!
