LaLa Land!
A cloudy beginning to our day, in Morro Bay, as I walked down to the Haystack (Coleman Park!) and caught sight of the many surfers who start early. We gave the Seaside 'in-lobby' breakfast experience a miss today and headed down to the ocean-front, where we had eggs and toast at the excellent cafe. The we took off for LA, but not without first stopping off at Solvang, a small town close to Santa Barbara. What a find! Founded by Danish settlers, the town remained true to its heritage and is Danish throughout, boasting windmills amongst a variety of Danish architecture.
We took our time strolling around this idyllic town and finished of our visit in a local bakery! it was early afternoon as we took off for te 101 South, encountering a setadily increasing volume of traffic as we left Santa Barbara for LA.
Inevitably, we ended up in multi-lane freeway traffoic, but fortunately missed the rush hour and located our hotel (The Royal Palace Inn, Sepulveda Blvd) without too much trouble. The hotel had been extensively and tastefull refurbished since our previous vist and our ropom is ideal! The new and nearby Metro system begs to be explored .... maybe! We listened to an endless array of 50's classics today, whilst heading south, many of which explain the adage 'They don't make them like this any more'! However, here's and exception: Frankie Lymon's "Why do fools fall in love"!
