Cannery Row

No trip to Monterey is complete without taking the walk from Fisherman's Wharf to Cannery Row, preferably on a sunny morning. Being early Sunday morning, it was quiet as we parked up on the ocean front and set out on this scenic walk.
Not only does it take in a beautiful seascape, but wild life is abundant (seabirds, Seals, kelp forests, and seat otters if your lucky!), and the whole area is steeped in the ghosts of Steinbeck, the Doc (Ed Cummings) and their nefarious company of colourful characters.
We took our time taking in the views and enjoyed a Peet's  coffee at a favourite spot  of ours, before making our way back to Fisherman's Wharf, where the Labor Day Greek Festival was in full swing. It was now lunchtime and the crowd was building. It had been a flat-alm morning with sultry temperatures, so we decided to make our escape back to Munras Avenue, where we walked to the Del Monte Mall. We grabbed a sandwich at Starbucks and headed for the cinema to see Logans Luck. The film was a hit with us and we welcomed the cooler conditions that greeted us when we left the multiplex. The Del Monte Mall closed early and we headed for The California Kitchen! As for today's musical reminder, I've chosen 'On the road again' by Canned Heat, as they appeared in the famous Monterey Festival!
