Going to the Zoo

We visited San Diego Zoo today and it brought back fond memories of our previous visit, many years ago, on our first trip to the US. They say its the best zoo in the world and I wouldn't argue with that. The zoo is located in Balboa Park and parking is free and plentiful. Although the terrain can be steep, getting around it couldn't be easier, with sky-ride and moving escalator systems, and a kangaroo bus. The zoo has borrowed the best bits from theme parks, by issuing free maps and having plenty of guest services and hand-on attractions, and shows.
As always we bumped into some nice people, including a couple who, having retired, had sold there house and had been travelling since April. Today was unusual in that finding Pandas proved easier that finding a place to sit down and have coffee on our way to the zoo!

I resisted the urge to commemorate the day with a zoo song and have plumped for the jungle rock, by Hank Frizell, instead!
