Another long and winding road!

Grey skies and light showers, an ill-portent to the day! We headed out early for Lake Placid, but through poor planning, on my part, we headed south and not to put to fine a point on it, we drove a very long way round to our destination ..... albeit that the opening drive through Vermont countryside and the latter route to Lake Placid were attractive, to say the least. Lake Placid turned out to be a stunning location and our hotel which overlooks Mirror Lake is excellent.
On arrival, our room wasn't ready and we were given a free upgrade to a suite overlooking the Lake.
Whilst waiting to check-in we took a walk down Main Street and visited the winter sports complex, the very same that hosted two winter Olympic games.
After dinner at the local pub/brewery we returned to the hotel and sat on the terrace, by the firepit, for a glass of wine. Wish we could have stayed longer!

In keeping with the name 'Lake Placid' and with a piece of music that played during today's journey, I picked 'Sleepwalk' by Santo & Johnny.
