The road to South Burlington!

Our stay in  North Conway was ideal and the weather so much better than we'd experienced during our previous visit. Nevertheless, there was a chill in the early morning air despite the bright sunshine, but it soon warmed-up. After coffee in the Met Coffee Bar, we pulled out of Conway and headed north on Route 302. The traffic was really light and the scenery was fabulous ..... blue sky, mountains, and forest, but no 'colour' for the leaf peepers! The drive was an easy one and by midday we were close to our target, Burlington. Accordingly, we decided to take a side-trip to revisit an old haunt, Stowe. We stayed in Stowe several years ago when it snowed and now seeing it in sunshine was a revelation. The Main Street was  buzzing as, ironically, we had arrived on the day of the British Invasion Festival, when the streets were lined with Union Jacks, welcoming the inflow of visitors with their classic British cars! Very cool!!
Leaving the town, we soon passed Ben & Jerry's headquarters where we stopped, briefly, to take some pictures. We had previously taken the factory tour and lets face it, the manufacturing process hasn't changed!
Reaching South Burlington, we soon found the Smart Suites where we are staying and what a great place to stay. Our suite has a full kitchen and we could literally live in it! It turns out that the place is fully booked too. It seems that the University is opening for freshers week and many parents of the new intake are staying here, as too are a number of owners of cars entered in the local Street Rods festival ..... their cars are awesome!

We couldn't kelp thinking back to Conway's railway today and its similarity to that depicted in the film 'Stand by me' ...... cue today's music!
