At a low ebb!
Contrary to what the above may suggest we had another upbeat and memorable day! Rising to a clear sunny day we were soon on the beach where some people had already gathered. Fortunately, our arrival in Cannon Beach coincided with a 'negative tide', a rare event in the calendar when the tide retreats a long way from the beach enabling the masses to get up-close and personal with Haystack Rock and its vast colony of sea-birds. There we met and chatted to two really nice ladies, Barbara who was hunting-down razor clams (and gave us a demo) and Marsha, a Californian who is attending an old class reunion. Having put the world to rights (again) we reflected that on a day like today, this shoreline has to be one of the most stunning anywhere in the world! We eventually emerged downtown via the sandy route. After a coffee break we picked-up the car and drove to Ecola State Park.Driving the winding road through the lush forest brought us to a spot that gave fabulous views overlooking the bay area and ocean. For a while we watched as small nesting birds fought-off the attentions of a fierce-looking eagle! A laid-back day by the waves and while it wasn't Echo Beach.....I feel a song coming on!
