Going Route 1(01).....
Pulled-out of our funky '5' hotel in Seattle and joined the stream of traffic in Seattle's crazy one-way system. We located the 'I5' and sped south amid five lanes of commuters. One-hundred miles covered and we left the interstate for Highway 30 and then '101', "The Pacific Northwest Highway"!.....the scenery was refreshingly 'green'! Postponing a mid-morning coffee stop until we crossed the Oregon State-line was a good decision, as we stumbled on "Huckleberry's"...a restaurant specialising in Jam and Home-made fruit pies! We split a club sandwich and Pat had a half-slice of Marion Berry Pie (first of the trip!)....the latter was both 'generous' and reasonable ($1.95!). We also learned the history of the Marion Berry......if anyone wants to know, just ask! We drove through "Seaside" (like it says on the can!) and soon arrived at Cannon Beach, our home until Thursday. We've stayed here before with the fair Jenny and (then) energetic Dave, and were over the moon to discover that we'd booked into the same motel....the fabulous "Sea Breeze"! Soon settled-in, we were off taking-in the beach, its rolling waves, and giant Haystack rocks.....a setting featured in that cool film "The Goonies". Whilst casually beach-coming, we met and chatted with a really nice young couple "Charlie and Davora" (Good luck guys!) Then, reacquainted with the downtown area we knew that the day would not be complete without having dinner at "The Driftwood"....it didn't disappoint! As for music....well we got back on the road again, and this early R&R record just wouldn't leave my head!
