Sorry, couldn't resist it!.....and here it is, in Crescent City...
Before driving down, we Skyped the fair Jenny, who we miss loads! (I must thank Pete for his observation about my 'Blue' fleece, which was inspired by a previous ManU 'away strip'....honest!!) The second leg of Highway 101 didn't disappoint and once again we had spectacular coastal views to marvel at, and passed lots of classic American cars of the 50's and 60's which gave today's journey a very retro feel.
We stopped off for lunch at Gold Beach. a really nice coast town where not all the boats had been readied for the summer tourist season. We crossed the California State line mid-afternoon and having satisfied the officials that we were not carrying plants or fruit, they gave us a map and welcomed us! Crescent City is small, but its conveniently placed for the National Redwood Forest Park, where we plan to visit. On arrival, we took a stroll out to buy provisions and happened upon the local Safeway. Here, I spoke with someone in Customer Services who obligingly arranged for me to become a 'Club Member', thereby enabling me to qualify for the greatly reduced 'Club Prices'. As this was my fourth attempt to be admitted to the Club, I am over the moon!
As for a song for today, how about the following classic.....
