The Ice Man Commeth........

Having slept-away the jet-lag we chose to have a fairly leisurely but fascinating day. Visiting Fairbanks Visitor Centre we got some good planning advice and then caught a glimpse of Alaska's vastness as we drove fifty miles alongside the Chena River, to Hot Springs Resort. (We caught sight of a Moose by the roadside!!) Hot Springs sits beside the river and is surrounded by wooded hills.
Natural geothermal activity is harnessed to power this neat little spa resort and thanks to the owner's vision and the artistry of a local sculptor, 'the Ice House has' been created (as featured in Stephen Fry's televised road-trip of America). The content of the Ice House has to be seen to be believed..... people get married there and reserve 'Ice-rooms' overnight....there are beds made of ice and a full-size 'ice bar' complete with cocktail glasses made of (Beaver Pond) ice!
And what would be a fitting piece of music to mark today, well its tough but how about the following offering from The Velvet Underground?
