Time Traveller!

A long but seemingly endless day, as we finally reached Alaska! We woke to the news that justice had at last caught-up with Osama Bin Laden and anticipated (correctly) that airport security would be heightened. Having checked-out at 5:15am we set off for the car-rental centre, dropped off our beloved 'Charger' and rode the shuttle bus through the crazy O'Hare traffic. We de-boarded at the American Airline terminal, completed self-serve baggage check-in, went through 'Security, and sat down for coffee....all before 6:30am......result! The flight to Seattle was on time and we gained a further two hours along the way (moving from Central through Mountain, to Pacific time). Our Alaska flight also went to plan and we gained a further hour as we journeyed to Alaska...we are now ten hours behind UK time!!
Flying to Alaska we passed over some pretty cold mountainous regions and were thrilled to arrive in Fairbanks.....the contrast to Chicago is stark. We picked up our new car.....a Ford 'off-roader' and set out for the local supermarket before dining beside a river carrying a lot of ice-flow.
It would appear that we will see quite a bit of daylight for the foreseeable future....and the hotel offers to wake guests whenever the Aurora Borealis appears!! Alaska has created a great first impression!!
