The Real deal!

Monday morning was cool and misty, but riding the Path Train to Hobokem and sailing the ferry past the Manhattan skyline to Wall Street certainly beats going to work! In the city the weather soon picked-up and we basked in sunshine.

We took the subway Uptown, to 14th Street, and walked back to 9th and 2nd Avenue to meet-up with Pam and Keith whom we'd last seen in Prague. Our paths coincided in an excellent Ukranian eatery where we had lunch, following which our 'tour guides' walked and gave insights to a side of New York that tourists seldom, if ever, get to see. We visited the East and West Village, Soho and Chelsea, and walked through the park at NYU....stopping for coffee in a really neat coffee shop.

We were walking in Dylan's footsteps and other notaries of the sixties....even getting to see the spot where the Electric Circus stood and passing close to the Fillmore Stadium!!

Late afternoon, Keith drove us back to his place in Brooklyn, not far from Coney Island, where we ate a great spaghetti dinner on the porch and met his two beautiful daughters, Susanna and Lila (who'd just flown-in from London!) We chatted long and afterwards our perfect hosts took us for a late-night drive through the Meat Packing district of Mountbatten, showing us where Hipsters hang-out and giving us the low down on 'New York terminology'. What a day!!
