Before striking-out for the downtown waterfront, I checked-out the 'acronyms' for some districts in Manhattan (thanks Pam!):
- Soho (South of Houston Street);
- TriBeCa (Triangle below Canal Street);
- Dumbo (Down under Manhattan Bridge Overpass); and, 'hot off the press'.....
- FiDi (Financial District)!
Anyway, moving on......we joined the throng of early Wall Street commuters and once having de-boarded, walked alongside the Hudson towards the Ellis Island Ferry pier, stopping for coffee at the 'Three Worlds Trades Centre' and a close-up view of the extensive construction project in-progress.
We boarded the ferry and set off for the Statue of Liberty and then to Ellis Island, the historic focal point of an unprecedented flow of immigration from all corners of the globe.
Late afternoon, we took the ferry back to New York and then joined the exodus travelling back (under the Hudson) to Hoboken (birthplace of Frank Sinatra).
There, we again met-up with our friends (Steve and Anne) for dinner. We ate in style in 'Teak' and then beat our retreat on the Path train to Journal Square! A good day!!
