A bad day at the office

Santa Rosa experienced a small rain shower this morning, but it soon passed. Following breakfast we chatted to a really nice Swiss couple who were doing an eight week road trip of their own. One of them had recently spent some time in Manchester writing about the city's tourist attractions and her article now features in the Swiss Air in flight magazine! After some face timing, we checked out of the Hotel La Rose and pulled into a nearby gas station to fill up. Despite several attempts to use two credit cards, both were declined ..... a potentially worrying sign! So, off to the next gas station where only one card (my Halifax card) was declined. Fearing the worst, I contacted the bank on my iPhone, which took an age. The result? Well, my card was fine and the problems experienced were down to the card technology in place at the gas stations and/or the people operating it. On with the journey to Monterrey, but not without a couple of set backs. The GPS decided to send me on  a tour of Santa Rosa, before messaging that it couldn't recalculate the required route. Eventually, after rebooting my guide, we were heading in the right direction, through San Francisco and beyond. We arrived at our favourite Comfort Inn, only to find that it was no longer that. In fact it had become an 'independant' inn and we were booked into a totally different establishment! Not a major problem, but not the best of days.

Post Script: We are actually in a nice place, only afew minutes drive from the Del Monte Mall and probably closer to the attractions! And today's musical treat is from a guy who made 'Monterey' famous! ..... Jimmi Hendrix and 'Little Wing'
