Blue Skies!

Yesterday evening, we drove to our favourite spot 'The Del Monte Mall' for dinner at the California kitchen, to get reacquainted with the locale and to stock up on essentials, at wholefoods .... and its only a few minutes drive from our unexpected hotel location! Before setting out today, I took a walk around the neighbourhood. Lots of motels, a flower market, and a smart Italian restaurant. Then, having taken a detour I noticed two things: (1) we are on the airport flight path (but no night landings, fortunately!; and (2) the Monterrey Fairground is behind us, where the Jazz Festival and other big events take place, including the famous Monerrey Pop Festival. Anyway, after breakfast we drove to Fisherman's Wharf, a three minute drive, and parked-up for a few hours. We have been fortunate to have visited Monterrey several times and each visit always commences with a walk alongside the ocean, to Cannery Row.
As Pat said, its like walking through an open air aquarium. The ocean is crystal clear and the wild life is amazing. Several different species of birds live there, sea lions and otters are plentiful, and the plant life is amazing.
The views are no less amazing and walking down Cannery Row, pas Ed (The Doc) Rickets marine biology lab, brings John Steinbeck back to life. By lunchtime we were ready to eat a light lunch near the stunning Monterrey Plaza Hotel, overlooking the water.
Then we strolled back into the centre of the town and take in its historic Mexican buildings, before retreating back to base and readying ourselves for  another Del Monte outing.

Not much time to listen to Sirius XM today, but today Ive gone for Bob Dylan and Subterranian Homesick Blues:
