It seemed like a promising idea to use the car today and after the early morning traffic mayhem, we set off for Griffith Park, near Hollywood. Of course we travelled along some pretty busy roads (including Wiltshire Boulevard) but we got there. We ascended to the Observatory, where the views over the city (and the 'Hollywood' sign) are spectacular.
We though about checking the park out and drove down to its entrance, parking near a neat coffee shop and smart golf course.
We quickly discovered two things: (1) Griffith Park is for serious hikers and its trails have rattle snakes!; and (2) a film crew were shooting a movie on location, on the golf course, but I don't think it was an epic production! We were soon on the road again, heading to the Getty Centre, close to Santa Monica. The traffic was predictably frantic, but we got there safely and having parked three levels below ground, we rode the tram that snakes visitors uphill, to the impressive buildings at the summit. To say that the buildings are impressive, doesn't do the place justice. In fact, white marble covers just about every surface and the architecture, gardens, and views are spectacular. Of course the art works are amazing, too. (The Getty Centre provided the location for the Federation headquarters in a Star Trek movie) Whether your an art lover or not, the Getty Centre is definitely worth spending some time at.
And my musical choice today is inspire from listening to SirusXM radio on today's journey to Hollywood and is Jefferson Airplane's "Don't You Need Somebody to Love"
