Hollywood Forever

Today's adventure began by negotiating our way through the City's permanently busy traffic to the Petersen Automotive Museum, on Fairfax Avenue. We arrived early as parking can be an issue, but as luck would have it, we stumbled on a ten-hour parking meter at the rear of the museum and for only $4 were able to park all day. Being first into the iconic museum building, we could amble around at our own pace and what a fabulous collection of cars there is to take in.
The California drag and hot rod racing fraternity are well represented, as is the movie industry. In addition, there is a wealth of classic cars to whet the appetite, ranging from a Ford GT40 to a streamlined Bugatti, made for the Shah of Iran.
Next, we headed for the nearby Farmers Market, a wealth of food and drink stalls, next to the flash Grove Mall. Having left a bookshelf full of US guidebooks at home, we bought another from the Barnes and Noble bookshop and relived our previous visit, by having diet coke and a sandwich in Starbucks!
A quick alfresco ice cream and e were off again, this time to the 'Hollywood Forever' cemetery ....... Pat likes walking around cemeteries!!  Of course being near Hollywood and Paramount Studios, there was  no shortage of star residents, Rudolf Valentino, Fairbanks Snr (& Jnr), Cecil B De Mille, and Johnny Ramon, were but a few. It was hot and our visit was fairly short-lived, but the memories will linger.

And today's musical piece? No apologies for a classic memory of the 60's ...... California Dreaming!
