Before setting off from Sacramento, we drove to 16th Street to Launder World ..... not a theme park, but a necessary utility service! The laundry was top dollar and once we'd put our load onto a warm cycle, we took off fir a walk around the neighbourhood. The houses look very nice and apart from the odd homeless person, it looked like a ice neighbourhood, not least because of its neat primary school. Returning to the laundry we went for a coffee next door and had the best doughnut, ever! The owner of the coffee shop was from Thailand and he'd taken over the business from his mother when she retired. He had a strong liking for Manchester! Whilst there we were told that the immediate neighbourhood was in fact full of drug addicts! During our chat, we were interrupted by a shady dude of Eastern European origin (so I was told) who tried the old "I may have scratched your bumper, but can fix it routine"! I bid him farewell!! Anyway, washing done, we were off to Santa Rosa, a journey of about two hours. We travelled through golden grassland and mile upon mile of fine vineyards and wineries, arriving little after midday.
We checked into the Old Town 'Hotel La Rose' and then took off on foot for a great lunch at a surprisingly good 'Jacksons Bar', before walking downtown along the a riverside walk. It was hot and we soon retreated to the air conditioned mall. This is our third visit to this city and each time it appears different.
Back to Sirius XM today and another golden oldie from the past ..... Canned Heat's "Going up Country"
