Driving Big Sur

It was time to move south today along the magnificent Big Sur coastline, where the wildly twisting road winds its way for miles overlooking magnificent ocean views. Route 1 is an incredibly scenic drive!
It took a little over two hours to reach Raggedy Point, where we stopped off for a well earned coffee and hot dog break before driving the short distance to San Simeon, to watch the elephant seal colony, there.
Afterwards, we pulled in to Hearst Castle and toured the visitor centre ..... Randolf Hearst was clearly enormously rich and a man of ambition.
Morro Bay was our final stop for the day, an ocean side town, popular for surfing and having its own giant haystack rock and an abundance of wild life. Its picturesque waterfront area also boasts "The Dutchman's", a seafood restaurant to die for!

Another California inspired musical selection today ..... "Surfing USA" by the Beach Boys!
